Location : 53 Above New York, NY

Please join us on Wednesday August 29th at 7pm for THE MILLAY SISTERS CABARET performed by Rachel Murdy, Margi Sharp Douglas, and Peter Szep to benefit The Millay Society.

Called “Vincent” all her life, Edna St. Vincent Millay was the mercurial goddess of the Greenwich Village scene in the 1920s and a Pulitzer Prize winning poet who died in 1950.

For THE MILLAY SISTERS CABARET, 53 Above becomes a private soiree where the audience is greeted by Norma, Vincent’s younger sister, who serves as your hostess. Norma invites the audience to hear popular songs from the era as well as poems of her famous sister.

Performance at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Admission $10 ($5 goes to The Millay Society) 2 drink minimum

August 29th is the anniversary of Edna St. Vincent’s historic appearance at The White Hall in Camden Maine. In 1912 she recited her poem “Renascence” there and the door opened to her future as a world renown poet.

This event is a benefit for the The Millay Society at Steepletop. Steepletop is Vincent Millay’s estate, and home to the society. Located in Austerlitz, NY, Vincent lived and worked there for the last 25 years of her life. It is in danger of closing
